EOSC Data Commons Releases Use Case Analysis and Requirements Report

With the release of D7.1, "Initial Use Cases Analysis and Requirements Report," EOSC Data Commons has translated high-level scientific challenges into a concrete set of technical requirements that will guide the development of the entire federation of repositories.
The deliverable represents the "user-centric" heart of the project. Thanks to the analysis of the diverse scientific use cases, D7.1 ensures that the forthcoming EOSC Data Commons services are built to solve the real-world blockers in research.
D7.1 includes:
- Use Case Validation: an in-depth analysis of specific scenarios across Virtual Research Environments (VREs), Data Repositories, and workflows.
- Functional Requirements: the essential features for EOSC Data Commons components, ensuring they support the full lifecycle of discovery, analysis, and reuse.
- A Roadmap for Developers: these requirements provide guidance to the project's technical team for building interoperable APIs and shared metadata frameworks.
The requirements outlined in this document focus on enhancing the "FAIRness" of research outputs and facilitating the move of analysis tools closer to the data, which is a critical step for handling the massive datasets typical of modern AI and big-data research.
