EOSC Data Commons Kicks Off to Boost Open Science in Europe

The EOSC Data Commons project is officially underway! Backed by EU and national funding, this new initiative brings together 22 partners from across Europe to build services that make it easier for researchers to find, access, share, and reuse data across disciplines - within the growing EOSC Federation.

The project launched with a Kick-off Meeting held at Amsterdam Science Park from April 7 to 9, 2025. Partners met in person to plan the road ahead and set the groundwork for the next three years.

Today’s researchers generate more data than ever before - but managing and making the most of that data isn’t always straightforward. That’s where EOSC Data Commons comes in. The project aims to create a trusted digital ecosystem as part of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), helping to break down silos and make research data more usable across fields.

The goal? To transform the way research data is managed, making it easier for scientists to discover, analyse, and build on existing knowledge, regardless of their discipline.

By working closely with a strong network of partners, EOSC Data Commons hopes to empower researchers across Europe, speed up scientific progress, and support more meaningful discoveries.
